1. Aims of the Experiment
The specific aims for the experiment are:
- To introduce stellar motions.
- To introduce Barnard's star.
- To briefly discuss the astronomer's co-ordinate system.
- To measure the proper motion of Barnard's star by using old archival scanned
photographs.
- To derive the position of Barnard's star from a recent CCD image taken at Durham.
- To undertake some basic analysis of the results.
